Project:
Toronto Ravine Gabled Sunroom
This private residence belonging to an architect, sits on a ravine lot in downtown Toronto. The older stone home had very little in the way of a relationship with the ravine beyond due to the construction style of the home and the era when it was built (est. circa 1930’s). The concept for the solarium was to create a “garden room” with a strong relationship to the surrounding environment, without disturbing the ambiance and feel of the traditional living room and in keeping with the existing architecture of the home. While modest in size, the newly created space features all the comforts required to make it a true year round living space complete with radiant heated floor, a gas fireplace, ductless air conditioning and R5-R7 glazing.
